I like the barn with twin missile silos... :)

Great pictures.
Seeing an old barn neglected and falling down is like seeing a field no longer mowed.
Think of the work.
All done with hand tools.
It's a slap in the face of our ancestors.
In Vermont, most fields will revert from hay to brush to forest if not mowed in too long a time. It's pretty amazing what a brushhog and stubborn persistence - and rye - can do though, if the field ain't gone too far. The barn though, if the ridge pole is gone, gotta start over.

Jim, several of your barn pics have that open structure at one end - what is its purpose? Never seen one with it in Vermont or New Hampshire.

Like Jim said, parking equipment. But also some had opening to the loft inside to put hay up. One grandpa used his to funnel a cow when preparing to load it. Definatly to load the spreader when cleaning out the stalls.
