At noon in St Louis It was 106 with heat index. At 1:00 it was hailing about done to quarter size. It lasted about 15 minutes with at least an inch of rain following.

Well, Alberto decided to jog East a bit and spare Mobile....looks like Pensacola to Appalachicola will be getting the brunt of it. 60 mph winds, heavy thunderstorms for them. Alberto tried to be an early season hurricane, just didn't have enough time over the water to make it! We'll still get some rain, but not the heavy stuff....should clear up Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

Back up in the 80's, 50% humidity then...oh well, can't have everything.

Weather today -- 90 F -- 9% humidity. got to love the desert heat. Utility bill last month $67.00 with our a/c .

$67??? Jesus, you don't even want to know what Pess's utility bills run!! Be a bit more than $67 and that's not for Alabama Power....that's generator fuel (solar no work so good in the rain)!! Damn diesel is over $2.60/gal!!

@VenomJockey Diesel ??? Pess should have gone with propane. Two 1,000 gallon tanks and he could stock up during the summer and run all winter and during the rainy seasons. Diesel prices in Komifornia is above $4.00 a gallon. Them folks are crazy and socialist. THH will be solar with propane backup. Methane conversion (maybe) if things (SHTF) last way too long, still researching the technology and viability. I may add windmill / turbine if cost and technology improves.

Flash Flood Watch issued for more tropical rain as Alberto nears...
Other than a few small showers, we are good. (for now)
Not to say we are not on the wet side but no flooding here on the farm.
Others north of us have not been so lucky.
My thoughts are with them.

The weather man got it wrong, the rain isn't staying east of I-65. My rain gauge only measures to 6 inches. It started over flowing 2 hours ago and the rain still hasn't stopped. The ducks are on strike, I saw a group swimming down the road with picket signs... :D

Warm, not hot, with humidity near 30%. A good range day even though I did not perform as well as I would have liked. I need to practice more. I am putting every Wednesday on my calendar as range practice day.

Well..dang it...I missed Spring this year.. we went from Winter to August temps of 96 degrees today,

Where did May, June temps go?

Yep 96 deg today with oppressive humidity,

I'm a waiting for Nov.:ghostly:

I left Edwardsville, IL in a big rig and hit rain all through Saint Louis, MO until I hit Arkansas. Heavy/hard rain and limited visibility. Only one accident along I70.
Yesterday it rained moderately in Ohio into Indiana along I 70.

If I could talk the wife into it we'd be enjoying desert heat too. I budget $200 a month for heating :(

I fully understand your situation. While I did talk the wife into the move, she hankers for the Oregon weather. My inability to adapt to the cold was the deciding factor. At 50 f my hand go numb and I lose all feeling in them. I am trying to figure out a plan where she can spend the summers in Oregon. It will take a bit but I think it maybe doable.

That would make her a snowbird wouldn't it?

Yes, a very pretty and lovable snowbird, She misses her children (most still live in Oregon or Washington) and does not enjoy our beautiful summer heat. I can survive 3 month without her easier than surviving 9 month of cold. We are strange birds that have flocked together.

We needed a real good rain. Got two small showers Sunday and another yesterday. Maybe 4/10ths total. Today I got 2 showers. The first about one half inch the second about an inch. Finally! This will kick start the garden! :)

I like to trot this one out there every so often for folks who think they are going to collect enough rain water for a life sustaining garden...

One inch of rain falling on 1 acre of ground is equal to about 27,154 gallons and weighs about 113 tons.

https://water.usgs.gov/edu/earthrain.html

My garden is about 1.5 acres. Over the last 3 days 47,501 gallons of water fell as rain on my garden. In 2 weeks it will be bone dry again.

1.5 acres cannot support two people for a year as a natural garden. Best have a better plan...
