Chick-fil-A launching Manhattan restaurant with mobile pickup and delivery only
...
When the test restaurant opens next week at 79th and 2nd in the Big Apple, it will differ from other Chick-fil-A restaurants in that it "will not offer a seating area or dine-in services," the fast-food chain said Wednesday.

OK. So you stay in your car when you're picking up your food. In one of those mega lines of cars that we have all seen at Chick-fil-A's even before this new mobile-only concept came about.

Those picking up the order, whether that’s the customer themself or a delivery person, will have the ability to see the status of the food using in-store designated screens, per Chick-fil-A.

So how are you going to see those in-store screens if you're sitting outside in your car?

I can't help but envy a little, the morons happily plugging along through life. Completely unaware of what is happening or may happen. They can be walking through a train tunnel and never suspect the light rapidly approaching is a train. I wonder do idiots know they are idiots? 🤔

NO, they don't! I have 'people watched' my whole life, and I can assure you they are in their own little oblivion!!

Mo, I'm about the same way when I'm unwell. I get so impatient.

So, turns out the lump on the cat was an abscess. Cat did not want to go in the carrier. She bit me when I tried to pick her up (not hard though) because she knew something was up. She had a panic attack once in the carrier and started flailing around until she decided to just curl up in the cat bed inside. She howled most of the ride there and back. But she was well behaved at the vet's office.

While at the vet's office a woman carried in her small dog in a blanket. She said she was having him put down and was returning some meds for another pet that had passed away before she could give it to her. My heart was breaking for her. I could see how upset she was but she was managing to not cry, although I could see she wanted to. Especially at one point when her dog looked up at her and she said "What?" and started talking to him. If my dog had looked at me like that, I would not have been able to go through with it. Last time I had a dog put down, the dog couldn't even lift her head and had given up on life. Its bad enough to lose one pet but having just lost another makes it worse. I wanted to hug the lady or give condolences but I knew I would start crying and didn't want to make her cry.

Arthritis in my right hand/wrist gave me trouble when I was taking trash out.

Senator Snugglebum is being a d-bag and picking fights with other cats. He also uncharacteristically went after food I was giving to a cat he's afraid of and he got a claw in his head and back from that cat. I did give him some canned food afterward. He kept zerging in to the living room and he's not allowed to be in there. Only 4 cats are allowed in that room.

Still don't know what is wrong with the AC. Outside unit didn't turn on at first when I turned it back to Cool but it turned on after I flipped the breakers off and then on. Inside fan wasn't running. Best friend had a migraine all day so he couldn't come out. Brother sprained something in his leg so he's not up to helping with anything.

Upside is that it was cold out today so it didn't get as hot in the house.

I read this morning the Joann's filed chapter 11. It's sad, at one time they were Joann's Fabrics, they were about the only company still selling sewing supplies. There was a time when there were 5 fabric stores within 20 miles of here, today we are down to 1 (unless you count Wally World). It makes me sad to think that today's society is losing those skills (sewing).

@dademoss WOWEEE you still have a Win 3.1 operating, I wish mine did it was so much better than todays systems it would be like a Corvette vs a Trabant with a Good comm card. and some upgraded hardware.

The programs I had then were so much better than the same ones today at following instructions and not trying to outthink you or change your mind for you.

Packing books, and came across one of the books there terrorized me in my younger days.

Update: Gave my version of the accident to the insurance people. She said it was pretty close to what the other driver stated except he said I didn’t yield right of way to him. 🙄 I started off by telling them I had dash cam video and so she changed something on the report and transferred me to another agent who told me where to email the video.

Before she transferred me I told her to make sure she used a dash cam and she laughed and said she didn’t until she started working in insurance claims. She said if it’s just one parties word against the other they usually let each individuals insurance pay for their own car.

I want to get in to sewing. Haven't used an actual sewing machine since 1991 though. It is sad that people are losing the skills- although Youtube is full of people who sew things.

kd4ulw, Yikes! Before the collision that road was raising my blood pressure. I *hate* when there are exits in the middle and you have so little time to decide which way you want to go. I could see a stop sign in front of the person who came over in front of you, so they were very clearly at fault. Hope your vehicle isn't totaled out and that your insurance agent knows how to open the file to see the video. I had an insurance agent who was too stupid to figure out how to open image attachments.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma right now. When I was cleaning out Mom's desk and around it I threw out some stuff that was on the floor or really filthy. I do remember throwing out a state farm envelope with no handwriting on it and nothing of interest inside. Now Mom is claiming that all her tax info may have been in that envelope. I don't even know which trash bag it is in now if it was in it. She normally keeps her forms and info next to the printer but she says she took it down. She also says she wrote TAXES 2023 on the envelope. I carefully looked at all of the envelopes before sorting so I know I didn't throw that out-- unless she forgot to write on it and its possible I mistook the stuff in the envelope for junk, but I don't see why I would have. Anyway, bottom line is that she can't find her tax info to do her taxes now and she's mad at me.

She gets dad's death benefits from federal govt, military death benefits, social security, and interest on a savings account. Anyone know how I would go about requesting the reissuance of all that info and have it arrive in time? Or if it can't, how to request an extension while trying to get that info? Need to do it asap and hopefully online if possible. I've googled, but my brain is a bit frazzled right now and I'm irritated that the envelope disappeared. I'm hoping she just overlooked it somewhere.

Also, my brother still has not received the correct W2s from his employer. They sent the wrong stuff to him. I think he has to call a certain number to get the correct info sent, but I'm not sure. Ugh.

Update: Mom found the envelope but it was empty. I know I didn't take anything out of it. I hope the papers didn't get thrown away. Still trying to figure out how to get the info re-sent. Anyone know?

the envelope has an address?
Start right there

Frodo, it was a random State Farm envelope that she used to stuff all her tax info into. It had nothing to do with the actual taxes. It just happened to be a larger envelope so she stuffed the W2s and stuff into it.

I found a link with a phone number but my brain isn't wanting to kick into gear for some reason. Also, I hate when people just abandon animals. They used to do that a lot more around here. We ended up with more cats because they joined our barn cats back in the 80s. The dogs we would sometimes have problems with because they hunted our livestock. Most of the dogs we've had were abandoned and we took them in.

I have a mini rant about idiots although in this case it ended up benefitting my brother. I think I might have mentioned how my brother had a co-worker who was a complete moron and had to be re-trained and constantly watched. They couldn't let him work the register anymore because he kept screwing things up. The only thing he could do without supervision was oversee some tournaments in the arcade. He's still in high school and really didn't want to work because they kept finding him hiding out in the closet playing on his phone when he was supposed to be working. Or he'd go into the office and sit down when he was supposed to be out in the arcade. He once complained that my brother and another co-worker were in the office sitting down, but they were working on something-- some kind of paperwork- and they told him that. The manager felt sorry for this kid because he's in special ed or something so she kept giving him chances. The rest of the workers were dismayed because they have to do extra work to cover for him and to fix his mistakes and having to babysit an adult teenager was aggravating. He had multiple writeups for various things and should have been fired a long time ago. Then, bring in idiot #2. A classmate of his who actually hated him but was manipulating him. That guy got in trouble for using racial slurs, making nasty racist comments about co-workers and customers, etc. But the major issue was that on day 4 of his employment, this jackhole thinks it would be a good idea to steal from the register. There are cameras all over the place. He was told there were cameras, but his dumb behind decided to steal. Idiot #1 was watching him steal and condoning it. So both were fired. But man, 4 days on the job and fired over stealing $41. What a moron! He got sacked and both idiots were escorted out by tribal police. The upside of that is that now my brother will get more hours because there are two fewer employees to do the work.

They do that on and off at the Chic Fil A in our bigger town. Because sometimes during the week they can't get anyone to work. But the drive up goes pretty quick. They have employees out there taking orders on an electronic pad.
We have people on Ipads taking orders here as well, but it depends on which restaurant you are at and the time of day.

@Amish, it is hard to say if you will ever go to Denver again, but there is a Cane's Chicken close to where you usually stay when you are there. It is a popular place. I had only heard of it in the last year, but for some people it is their favorite chicken place.

People can be horrible to innocent animals!

I was opening the back screen door this morning and THE HANDLE BROKE OFF in my hand!! Now there is just a sharp nub!🤔🙄🙄🙄 That's the door we use! Hubby better get a new one on there soon!!😮 I say that because he is having a harder time opening it, so it's on him!!🤪🤣🤣
Hmm....
You don't know how to use a screwdriver?
It broke off in your hand this morning.
In my book.. if it breaks off in your hand that means you have to fix it.
Just my opinion......

I get nervous if I see my wife with a tool of any kind.
She has very little mechanical aptitude.
I'm not saying that's bad it's just the way she is.
She would use a 20 Oz. framing hammer to drive a nail to hang a picture.
If she breaks something I will fix it.
That doesn't mean I won't complain but I will fix it. :p
