What Shortages are You Seeing?

Kroger store is full of food tonight, a lot of sales too.
Rice shelf is not full, but the meat is full & TP is good too.
Chicken $0.99 a pound. The truck comes in on Tuesday.

What brand do you use? Amazon had some mighty good sales on some in the past few days, but it was only certain brands.
Thank you! I'll check that out!
Hubby did check on the Sam's website, and they're still shipping the stuff (mostly vitafusion brand), so we can give that a go, too. I just prefer to buy things in hand if possible, as I don't have a high level of trust in things being shipped. But not seeing things in the store is an obvious red flag, and I'd rather take a chance with shipping rather than wait for the shelves to be restocked.

Had to go to a couple stores today. Wmart - after last time I went (about a month ago???) and kindly consolidated all their empty boxes that were sitting on the shelf while I waited in line so one could see that the shelves were for the most part empty, 😊 they moved the shelves farther apart. Instead of about 8", they are now a good 14"-16" apart (vertically). So those shelves appeared decently stocked. I only needed 3 things and got what I needed and left so didn't really look around. (I don't like being in that place.)
Then I went to Grocery Outlet. They were well stocked. I only needed a few things from there also. One thing last time I went was that the NOSH (Natural, Organic) section was wiped out. They must have received a truck, because it was very well stocked this time. Still waiting to see turkeys.

I don't see any of that out of food stuff up here. The shelves are full. The thing that bugs me is the Vax passport. It's obviously a punishment for not towing the line.

Thing is, us dirty unwashed are not allowed to eat in or outside a restaurant. (PATIO) we can however, stand inside forever waiting for take out and use the bathroom. We can also eat inside any big name fast food restaurant. Health, my patootie.

I went to Aldi last week and only had a few minutes to grab a couple of things b/c we were on our way home and hubs was in a hurry. He didn't even want to stop, but I insisted b/c we needed some fresh veges. As I practically ran thru the store, I noticed that the paper goods isle looked like it had been ransacked. They had TP, but not the club size packs that I usually get. There were other gaps in that isle, but I didn't stick around long enough to notice exactly what was gone.

I also grabbed the last 3 bags of tortilla chips. That was really weird, since they typically always have tons of chips available. The place definitely looked more bare than the last time I was there.

Thread- basic black and white thread.

I just bought a bag full of thread, all the standard colors. I haven't sewn anything since the girls prom dresses 20 years ago, and a pile of chicken saddles about 10 years ago, but I figured thread was needed for patching stuff.

Boy did I have sticker shock in the fabric store.

None. TP was getting bought up a couple weeks ago, but as soon as I bought a bunch, it went back to normal. Of course. Still , it never hurts to have a few more huge packs sitting around.
I few years back I ran out of TP while sitting on the throne & I felt helpless(TMI).
I called & yelled, the wife showed up with a hand full of paper napkins, to tell me we are out of TP.
SO I buy a spare pack & hide it from the wife so I will never run out again.
When the TP, Rubbing alcohol & hydrogen peroxide went missing in the stores, I had more then enough to see my house hold though.
I still keep a few packs stacked up in the corner, but more can food, because who needs TP without food???!???!

This week I had to make up 2 chains for logging here on the farm and for hauling equipment on a trailer.

I went to 3 different stores that usually carry an assortment of large chain. Everyone was out of various sizes or types. I asked and was told more than once "We have trouble getting a lot of things".

We used to produce the best steel on earth... now there are shortages of something simple as 20ft of logging chain?

Oh! and the grade 70 chain I bought was $5.18 per foot. Ridiculous price!

When Buiders Square went out of business I bought all of the heavy chain left on the rack. Just short of 5 gallons worth. Your posts confirms it was a good investment at that time.

More fast food places with "out of food" signs on them. Stopped for gas in town and McDonalds was closed, "supplier didn't show" sign at the road!
Will never see that here because the nearest McDonalds is over 140 miles away.

That reminds me of looking for a washer, waited three months, my machine just started to run right, so I did not need a new machine.
The company never called about the machine coming in.

I checked inventory online at Lowes when I had to replace our washer in August.
They had 7 in stock because it is reeeeeealy nice!
It had to be an all pushbutton intelligent one that the MIL couldn't screw up.
She is OCD and likes everything together, so she puts all of her clothes in 1/3rd of the tub.
All of us know that will not spin without walking across the floorgaah
The screen politely tells her to take the clothes out and put them back in evenly around the tub.
This infuriates her, but I love it because my job is, to put broken pieces back together.

The only downside: installed, it was $951.

At lowes today I wanted to purchase a refrigerator. Five month estimated delivery time!

Try Sears. They had my freezer in stock so no wait. Of course, I wasn't super picky. This one is a foot or two larger than what I had in mind.

Mills are facing the same labor shortages everybody else is. There are some things that we inquire about - mill isn't running more until Nov or Dec. It's crazy. As soon as we get a job, we order the metal A) before price increases more, and B) to get it before we can't.

Similarly...

We are going to. purchase all of what we need for the rental property while we can.

Yeah, LOTS of ‘closed due to staffing problems’ types of signs.

My husband’s business services restaurants. One of his customers had to eliminate bbq pork from their menu due to being unable to get pork - a pretty big deal as they’re a bbq restaurant and the pulled pork was their signature plate. All his customers are having a tricky time getting chicken. And cooking oil has doubled in price over six months and is often not always available.
