@Sentry18 That amazes me. Aren't or shouldn't they be "just a member of the community?

They should be, but people flock to them like their last 3 albums went platinum or they will be handing out Ukrainian oil executive jobs. Especially people who think they are important and need to rub up against people they think are even more important, thus elevating their status somehow making them even more importanter (yes, I know that's not a word but it fits).

I am sitting in my office right now because they decided to stop somewhere and shake babies and kiss asses (or something like that) and moved their arrival time back an hour. Sigh.

A quiet morning here. Dad is still in a lot of pain, something has to been done. As long as he sits perfectly still he's okay but if he has to get up to eat, shower etc he's in agony.

I'll be at the best hospital in the state Monday morning. I'm not leaving there until I find a spine specialist dad can see asap.

I have no plans but more shredding. I might brace up the shelf I put in the toolroom. I've already purchased the items needed.

The slip cover I ordered for the big ugly chair came yesterday. It fits, sort of... I think I have it on wrong. It has seams in the materiel so I'm sure it's supposed to go on a certain way. I'm just not sure which way that is...

I really feel bad for your Dad..I seen my dad go thru a lot of pain...I wanted to help him so bad....but I could do nothing .
prayers for your pops.

I bought a car cover for my caddy...took me 2 weeks to finally get it on right.:dunno:

Today, just another day to count off for me.
PT did take me out and let me get in and out of car yesterday....that went really good... she told me to start going places.:green man:

I told her that I been trying that my whole life. Ain't working.

Planned to get in the shop and straighten up, empty a trailer, maybe cut some brush. But last couple days I've been feelin a cold coming on. Woke up at 130 this morning all stopped up. Went to the couch rest of the night. Haven't felt like doing anything. Finally got dressed and waiting to get in a walk in clinic. Last time I got sick it went straight to my chest, took a month to get over that. Figured I'd better jump on this quick

Exercising. I fell behind a bit this week (only 2 workouts during the work week) so this weekend i need to exercise both days to get my minimum 4.
I alternate between cardio (usually runs, sometimes fast ruck marches) and Iron pumps.
Today was weights.

had dr. appt. yesterday. i stand in real danger of losing my leg. even though i am doing everything they told me too. i do not have insurance and the bills are piling up . i'm at my wits end about figuring out how to get some help. any body got any ideas? i have a little over a year before i can get medicare. monday i'm going to ss office and see about disability and medicaid.

@timmie most hospitals will take pennies on the dollar for folks who can't pay. It takes a meeting with their billing dept. As long as you can pay $15 or $20 a month they will put you on a payment plan even it it takes years to pay it off. They can also wave any payments.

As far as your leg... there are herbs that would have stopped a staff infection if used at the very start but not so much after a week. I'd park myself in an ER until they gave me the antibiotics needed. Do you know precisely which bacteria you have? Did they tell you?

Maybe others will have better ideas...

Sorry this is happening. I don't have any ideas but if any come to mind or cross my path, I will be sure to pass them on. Disability office is a good place to check. Prayers coming your way.

Exercising. Because Sentry posted the thread about doing pushups, I have been doing them everyday at least twice.
It is still kind of muddy here but I managed a short hike up in the hills today (supposed to rain some tomorrow).

Good for you!

@timmie ,
I had a friend that just went thru this. He now has a prosthetic and is getting around really good.
He fought it for 6 months.

If your income level ,and assests level meets their requirements, you can get state aid, Medicaid.
I don't know the requirements...they can tell ya . What state you in?

God bless ya , we will ask God to intervene in your behalf.

Worked on the old apartment in my shop building today. Built a wall hung hung doors and Sheetrock finished sheet rock and painted. Long day just finished up. I will be doing flooring and granite counter tops this coming week.

@hiwall do a few extras for me would ya? :). Actually what I need to get back in the habit of is sit-ups. My back feels stronger when I do them.
@Peanut prayers to you and your dad.
@timmie I almost PM-ed you but maybe it can help others also. I don't know your beliefs, and mean no offense if you believe otherwise (okay disclaimer done.) I've done quite a bit of research on nutrition. Doctors typically have very little training in nutrition which seems wrong. Sugars (carbs) wipeout your natural immune system. It wouldn't be a cure, but would help your system fight the infection. Until it heals (or longer) you might consider a low to no carb diet. Believe it or not, your system can healthily live on natural animal fats alone. It would take something pretty severe for me to go that far. I was raised that fats were bad - like so many, so have had to work at "liking" fats. But losing a leg sounds pretty severe to me. If you have questions along this line, feel free to ask. I will answer what I know or tell you if I don't know. A huge prayer going up for you!
PS- we've been eating low carb about 7 yrs. now. In that time, I've had 1 head cold which was my own fault. I'm allergic to milk and had ice cream then following day a mocha - bad bad me.

@Meerkat You definitely need a better story than that. Here's a start, "Well, I was sparing with Sylvester the other day, and......" (Hope it heals quickly.)

@Sewingcreations15 your turn. Where are you. Hopefully just on wallaby patrol.

:LOL:I did't even think about the ol door thing till now. Only this time it is true.:eyeballs:

Will be praying for you, @timmie ! Please start at the SS office and then make sure to check with the hospital billing dept. as mentioned above! Between the two, something should help.

Praying for your eye, too, @Meerkat ! That is never a good look!

Got all cookies either baked or rolled and in freezer and half of them frosted, other half will be done around Church tomorrow.

Been rather busy with appointments for Dh so we have been driving all over the place but back to normal for a while. Also been heatwave conditions here so rather uncomfortable to cope with and air conditioning will be on the most wanted list shortly for the home. We have also finished cutting the firewood to help our elderly friend and just need to collect it now and take the smaller bits to the tip for her, clean her gutters with our blower vac and poison a few tree stumps so they don't grow back.

Today being Sunday we spent a lovely day at church and caught up with a few people and had something to eat. I taught the lesson in Relief Society today and have been busy with church work as the church has wanted to give some of the country members a Christmas present of filling up their water tanks for them (those who are financially strapped) in our drought here. They asked me as I know who is on tank and who isn't. Also we have been involved as a go between on welfare being organised for a farming friend who's marriage just fell apart, lets just say there is a lot of debts he has that need to be sorted, quite a sad situation.

Our plans for today are to practice doing absolutely nothing and enjoy a day of rest really as we haven't stopped. About to have some nice cool homemade cheesecake and I will see what else I feel like eating after that.

Yesterday we deep cleaned the home and made a lovely homemade cheesecake and a double batch of sultana biscuits.

Sunday school and Worship service.
Home to change clothes and wait and wait and wait for the Sister-in-law to call to tell us she's ready.
Drive to the big city to eat with sister-in-law and her husband.
Visit MIL in hospital.
Visit ex-sister-in-law in rehab.
Leave the big city and return home!

I was up most of the night with dad. He'd decided he wanted to sleep in a bed instead of his recliner. At midnight he decided he's better get up and go back to his recliner... Took me an hour and a half to get him up. In the end had to give him a very strong pain reliever from an old prescription in his medicine cabinet. Like most 85yrolds his medicine cabinet is a small drug store. He had an old prescription doctors don't write anymore. The kind that had a red label on the bottle that said "Don't drive or operate equipment". At least it took enough of the edge off the pain for me to sit him up and get him into his wheel chair but I had to wait 40minutes for it to take effect.

While he was in the hospital I went through all his old meds and wrote them down in a note book. I'm just glad he had something really strong or I'd never have got him off that bed. It also helped him go back to sleep. He did rest through the night.

All this gave me time to pack for my trip to the big city for doctor appointments. I got everything packed last night, just have to get a shower then hit the road. Someone needs to stay all night with dad tonight. I have a few hours to arrange that. I don't need to leave here until after lunch.

Praying for you both - also, safe travels.
@Sewingcreations15 glad you are well and "just busy." Sounds like your plan for rest is a good one.
