Antique Tile. I'm getting slower at finishing them

IMG_20180315_175045.jpg

Thank you! I'm having so much fun with these! I'm hoping to get the next 2 finished before bed. I was hoping to be further along, but I had to help my quilt inspector (cat) cross the rainbow bridge yesterday. It's been a rough week. Oh and crying isn't good for surgery pain . Back to the cutting board

This week we're making the X block. I couldn't find pictures of a quilt using this pattern and there are other blocks that use the same name. Our design was created by McCall's Quilting.

Since I don't have any quilt pictures to show, here's another X block pattern paired with the O blocks. This is a cutie for a fast and easy child's quilt.

Here are my blocks.

You have really been on a sewing streak, Greeneyes! Good job on getting these turned out so quickly. I think today's block is #10 so we only have two more after this. It sounds like your recovering well from your surgery and that's good news. Sorry to hear about your little helper.

I've been quilting on my PVC frame and I am so happy with it because it doesn't take up as much room as my full size frame. I can only reach less than half way across it so after I finish quilting that length, I just take the clamps off and slide the quilted section towards the top, put the clamps back on and quilt the next row. It's so much easier than quilting on a hoop.

Katie we need to change the name of this block. I like it, but I'm sitting here staring at it, turning my phone, trying to figure out how it looks like an X o_O

I'm on a 20 lb lifting restriction for 2.5 more weeks!!!! It's driving me batty, so sewing is keeping me out of trouble. I'm not the type of person to have someone else do for me. So haveing my daughter attempt to clean the barn and haul barely full buckets of water is driving me loopy!!!! I'm hoping I'll be able to start cleaning house next week. The just moved in look, after 2.5 years, is getting a bit old. My daughter is also a walking tornado. I can't even look in her room without having a panic attack :confused:
I need to bake a cake and decorate it for my daughter's party tomorrow. Bake some cookies for my vet, they need appreciation, they have a hard job, go get my tags for my truck and a new license since my birthday is tomorrow, and maybe make some Bailey's brownies for ME!!!!! Sewing therapy would be nice too....

I use to have a PVC floor quilting frame by Dritz?? I got it when I worked at Walmart in the early 2000's. I never got into hand quilting, didn't figure I could make good stitches. I sold it a few years ago for the $47 or $49 that I had paid. Never been out of the box and it still had the Walmart shipping label so I knew the price. I had a lady schedule a pick up minutes later. Only to find out the price of those had nearly TRIPLED since I had bought that one!!! Oh well.... Still don't think I could hand quilt a whole quilt.

I think a lot of the quilt patterns are like rorschach blots - everybody sees something different! That's the only reason I can think of for the names of some of them. :) I just bought this Dritz pvc frame a couple of months ago at Joann's and they are way way way overpriced and it's surprising how the cost has skyrocketed. The retail is about $110.oo now but I used a 50% off coupon and they had another 10% or 15% off your total purchase that day. I ended up getting it for $50 with the sales tax included. It's a lot cheaper to buy the pvc and make your own or have someone make it for you.

I have my back bedroom emptied out right now and I won't be putting a bed back in there so I'm going to keep one side of the room clear. It's a small room but I think I can fit my wooden floor frame in there. I only hand quilt and I'm tired of using a hoop so I'm spreading my quilting wings!
:ballet:

hmmm.. This one is kinda different... should be fun to make... Thanks once again Katie.. :)

Greeneyes you TAKE it easy.. I totally understand about not wanting help from others, but you need to heal first.. besides I always think it is good for someone else to do my chores on occasion,, makes them appreciate what I do.. I too am so very sorry for your loss of your little helper.. It leaves such a void.. we just had to put down our little 17 year old Doxie.. I still find myself looking for her, or thinking about sitting aside treats for her.. We always love our animals just as if they were our children.. hugs to you and yours..

I am loving seeing your finished blocks and am very much wanting to see them all put together.. it's going to be a really beautiful quilt!

CoSunflower let me know when you are ready to start sewing these blocks.. hopefully I will be ready by then.. Katie has chosen some fun blocks & Greeneyes has gotten me excited about making them.. Oh, I meant to tell you,,,,,,, I found some cactus fabric at www.equilter.com .. ordered a yard of it.. you know how much I need more fabric!! hahahaha !!

Maxine thank you for your kind words about my blocks and about Scotch. She was so young, 7.5 years. I still catch myself looking for her.... Here is an older picture of her on top of my fabric shelves observing my work. I miss this sewing room at my first appointment.

I'm gonna cry  I got birthday money from my dad. He sent $100, Canyon Creek quilt was $91.40, how convenient!!!! Went to order it, it's sold out :cry::cry: Just my stupid, dumb luck. Being born on St. Patrick's Day never made me very lucky.

OH GREENEYES!!!! I'm so sorry about the quilt pattern that you wanted!!!!! I have to tell you that your Scotch looks like my Grace, who is 10 now. She is my "helper" too and makes quite a mess of things when I'm not looking!!! She LOVES scraps of fabric and thread to bat around all over!!!

Katie, I went thru all their kits last night and marked my favorites. Most we're more then my birthday money, lol! I also was looking at patterns last night. I might just use the money to get some of the patterns I've wanted for a while. Or maybe get fabric for some of the patterns I already have :D

Went for my 2 week post op appointment this morning. I got cleared to do a little more lifting and some isolated exercises. Also found out my 6 weeks off work will be 8 because of the repetitiveness of the lifting I do. In 8 hours I can lift up to 3400 lbs of seasoning, that doesn't include trash or equipment. They are 50# bags. 2 high senior people retired while I was off, the guy that got one of the bids will bump me to the smaller fryer after his replacement is trained, so that'll only be 1800 lbs of seasoning. They can't train his replacement til after I get back though, lol.

Kim give your Grace some loving for me. When Scotch was a kitten she would play with my block and rearrange them, then she became content to just lay on them or observe me. Miss her so much.

I hope to sew a little tonight. My daughter has been sick, and I've been trying to do chores myself. We got snow coming so I'm trying to get out and clean so I can put down dry bedding. I hate dumping it on top of the mess that's there, but I might have to

Greeneyes, most of the pieced quilts in the Craftsy kits are easily duplicated with your own fabric. The Sticks and Stones quilt is just two alternating blocks set on point. Looking at the finished size and the construction, I can tell you that the blocks are 12" finished, the inner border is 2" and the outer border is 6". The alternate block is just a log cabin using the same color all around the center square. Here's the star block pattern with a different color arrangement.

Quilter's Cache has it in a 16" pattern but I've seen a 12" pattern in other places.

If I can find a picture of the Cabin Creek again, we could probably figure out the pattern for you and you could buy fabrics in those colors.

Katie I was considering just duplicating the sticks and stones, but I do like the earth tones! The problem with a lot of these kits is I love the color choices Craftsy has picked for them! I think the canyon Creek was mostly log cabin blocks, unfortunately I didn't screen shot that one.

I do like that flower basket quilt. It looks complicated.
