    What Branch of Military

Yeah but you still have to keep up with the current ... most people don’t realize it’s the relative speed of the water over the rudder that determines maneuverability ... you can be screaming along at 10 it’s but if the current is doing the same in the same direction you have no steerage - the...

    RIP Gomer Pyle

Oh man, no! This hits home ... damn

    What Branch of Military

What an awesome and super tough job! The river is not easy to navigate south bound especially with a bunch of barges tied together.

    What Branch of Military

Yes but not a small boat station or construction tender or anything like that. My first unit was the Coast Guard Cutter Weatwind(WAGB-281). At the time she was stationed in Milwaukee WI. While not an inland river according to the formal definition, I also served at a Marine Safety Office and...

    Prepping covers a wide range

I hear ya and get your point. Sometimes I vacillate ... really don’t have a redoubt to go to ... but I do have a bag and other gear in my truck. I think of it as my get home bag. I may have to get myself home or CSAR a loved one or friend. May even have to retrograde if civil unrest gets REALLY...

    What Branch of Military

    Big balls or just nuts?

Ok, I can ALMOST understand the guys who want to do this (after a couple bourbons, I understand much better). The guys I don't get at all are the ones who jump out of the plan intending to land on the ground in one of these wing things without a chute ... those guys are certifiable!

Hello from a (former?) RT member

Thanks Gumpy - saw your name more than a few times over at GF. Also read you were the token Appalachian-Merican ... that true? Northern, central, or southern Appalachian?

Roger that! What he said ....

    Stay out of my house!!

I hear ya, and your quite right ... never entirely off duty. IA must have been a tough (and sometimes thankless) job. And you make a good point about the firearm possibly being a department issue. I just hate the climate right now that almost makes it necessary to investigate everything simply...

    Stay out of my house!!

Sounds like a justified shooting to me ... probably just a matter of policy but it sounds a little chicken **** for IA to become involved - not like it was a line of duty shooting. The DA ought to be able to handle this based on the field investigation conducted by the responding officers...

    Contest Time - WIN MILLIONS?

What if no single member referred you? I was on GF and I saw two references to this forum. When familiar names went missing I jumped on the second one I saw .... neither still exist so I can't give credit.

Hey shooter, I assume you're the same shooter that I talked to at GF? If so, we gonna see some more of those awesome military photos anytime soon?

Hello from a (former?) RT member

I came from GF ... not an admin, mod or anything else important. But I read a post with a open invitation to come here and I decided to try it out ... a lot of names I see are familiar.
