I use Mexican blankets because I have a dozen of 'em, and if they get dirty I can just toss 'em into the washer, 10-4? Plus the cats like 'em, they're heller comfortable when folded up like that, and all three kittens easily fit atop the blanket. Here are a few more pics of my property, I took these earlier today while roaming around with the cats and assessing what needs to be done this coming week. It just rained here but the sun is back out for a bit, and the air is nice & fresh... we should get more rain later too, which suits me fine!!!
Not a bad place for cats to live... I'm still working on it, but I have a master plan and I'm making progress, so I'm not worried about it. I'm gonna start painting the rest of the interior and working on that front porch soon, it needs work but it's still solid, I'm just gonna cover the existing plywood with fresh ply AFTER I coat the old stuff for added protection. The porch measures roughly 8' x 26', more than enough room for visiting friends to hang out on camp chairs, lol. Once the fresh plywood is down on the porch, I'll paint that before I put down vinyl (either in roll form or adhesive tiles). That's a very nice porch for settin', as some folks say, you can see me dear departed mum's wooden rocking chair out there, it even has the very cushions she had on it, I left 'em in place. The BBQ will eventually go down on the paver pad in the front yard, then get covered for protection... that'll happen soon because I wanna treat the old plywood on the porch.
See all those open sunny areas in my yard? I wanna plant all kinds of good fruit & veggies in those sunny areas next spring, this season was purely experimental but I now know what grows best here in this climate. I'm gonna buy some pecan & pistachio nut trees next spring too, they do very well here---there are HUGE orchards in the Tularosa Basin with thousands upon thousands of nut trees, lol. As long as you water 'em, they'll thrive, same way my peach & pear saplings seem to be thriving. The blackberry bush or vine too, that's now doing well. Next spring, I'm also gonna paint the exterior of my home, I don't like the ugly colors it has now, I'm gonna go with forest green skirting and porch railings, all else will be white or some shade of off-white, nothing too bright. Green & white, Coronado colors, lol... green for weed, white for coke back in the day, lol. No lie, you can see the green & white combo on the city flag today, and CHS school colors are also green & white.
My home should look pretty sweet once all THAT is done, then I can focus upon riding the thumper and otherwise having a blast, lol. I'm so happy I found this place, especially after field camping for 109 days in Whetstone, Arizona (not far from Tombstone), I was beginning to get a bit desperate due to the insane real estate market prices, lol. In fact, the gal realtor who helped me buy this place REALLY did me a big ol' favor when she told other prospective buyers that the property was already under contract, even though other buyers technically had the rest of the day to make higher offers. I had told the gal that I was living in a tent with three cats, you see, so once she knew I was serious and had the cash, that was it, I was in and my troubles were over, as far as relocation went. I still had to drag everything over here, but my mind was at ease because I had FINALLY found a home within my price range, lol. Jeez, that was an ordeal... I like camping, but after 109 days it kinda gets OLD, lol.
OH, WELL, ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, AS SOMEONE ONCE WROTE, LOL... I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE!!!
P.S. That nice metal shed was built by the same outfit that erected the dual carport, and they're both nearly new, so that was another score for the money I paid, lol. The other shed is older, but it's still pretty solid, and both sheds are on nice concrete slabs, no cracks or other problems. The home is a 14' x 80' single-wide manufactured home, but it has more than enough room for me and five cats, lol. I kinda miss my previous double-wide homes, but I have a larger yard now to make up for that, so no worries. Trees too, which I did not have in Benson, except for some Palo Verde and one huge mesquite tree which was actually on a neighbor's property, but overhung mine. I like these pine trees, they're not tall Ponderosa Pines like I had in Show Low (23 on that property), but they're tall enough to provide shade and I love the way they smell in summer, pine resin has an aroma that I like! The cones & needles are great for starting campfires, and once I'm up to speed on this property, routine maintenance should be MUCH easier, lol.
