Just watched "The Highwaymen," about the hunting down of Bonnie and Clyde with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. 20,000 people came to the service of Bonnie Parker, while 15,000 came to the service of Clyde Barrow's. People were really poor at the time, and Bonnie and Clyde were highly respected and sought after by common people.

Someone told me recently that her great grandma had let them (the real Bonnie & Clyde) use the water well on her property, they came to the door and asked. She took them food too, which wasn't uncommon, according to this young woman.

All kinds of people helped Bonnie and Clyde. They were robbing banks while other people were losing money to the banks, at least that was alluded to in the movie.

I watched the Highwayman, too, and thought it was well made. Without our instant access to news stories and pictures, people at the time formed most of their opinions from word of mouth and newspaper stories. Bonnie and Clyde were big stories at the time and were romanticized by the lies that Clyde Barrow spread about robbing from the rich. They stole from small mom and pop stores all the time and they were stone cold killers.

William Sadler played Clyde's father, Henry Barrow. I thought he was absolutely outstanding in his brief appearance in the movie.

We're working our way through WKRP in Cinncinatti dvds. We watch 2 episodes every evening. Funny stuff. Hubby also watches some type of war movie after supper. I read then and listen to a local am radio station

Funny, watching a new episode of Deadliest Catch that caused me to smile. They were facing really big seas, a few seasoned crewmembers were out for the count, laying in their bunks eating saltine crackers. As a man who has been to sea a few hundred times… It doesn’t matter how good your sea legs are… when the waves get big enough, you’ll be eating a saltine cracker, have to keep those electrolytes up!

It happened to me twice, once as a civilian, we put to sea a few hours after a tropical storm made landfall. Its sustained winds were 69mph… not much different than a CAT 1 hurricane at 72mph sustained winds.

The second time I was in the Navy… the battle group pulled out of Sardinia in the Mediterranean and steamed into a storm with 50ft seas… I admit, I had partied a little too much the night before… I ate a lot of saltine crackers that day.

I had a friend in those days, different division but still in Combat Systems. He and I used to play a lot of chess. Say we were tied up pier side but getting underway… All he had to hear was the ship wide announcements… “Pull in all Lines” “Underway, Shift Colors” (shift colors… US flag on the jackstaff comes down… US flag on the main mast went up, shifting our colors to different location on the ship).

My friend was useless for the next 24 hours… he’d be in his bunk looking green around the gills when he wasn’t throwing up… even though we were still within 30ft of the pier! Of course, everyone teased him… After 24 hours he was fine… it was a mental thing with him. :D We'd still be in the Chesapeake bay, 3-4 ft seas... On a ship 564ft long you don't noticed the seas until they are 10-12 ft.

The squirrels and the ravens fighting over who owns the big Douglas fir in the back yard

Reminds me of something I saw as a teenager... in those days cotton fields relied heavily on crop dusters... planes...

I was over by a family members field. In the middle of the field a Catawba tree had sprouted and grown... produced Catawba worms... great for fishing. My great uncle let it grow. A crop duster was spraying the field. As the the plane got closer to that tree a family of bluejays flew out to scare it off...

Then there was just a tiny puff of feathers... :( A forgone conclusion... ;)

In the last week I saw the finale for The Big Bang Theory, twice! I will watch it in re-runs often.

I saw the Survivor finale last Wednesday. I would like there to be a re-do of the show, making it more survival oriented.

About the only things we watch regularly are NCIS and NCIS LA. And reruns of Andy Griffith & MASH. I record Barnwood builders and stuff like Mountian Men, The Last Alaskans, & shows like that to watch when we have time to look at them. I do catch a Braves baseball game, well parts of one every now and then. Maybe a bit of a NASCAR race if I like the track they are running at. Was flipping thru the channels the other day and found an outdoor motocross. Man that brought back memories for sure.

We have watched lots of ' Deadliest Catch.'

I forgot to add we've been watching some stuff on AXS TV (direct TV channel), concerts, interviews, old albums. Recently saw a Bad Company, Chicago, Skynard, & Foreigner concerts. Dan Rather interviewed REO Speedwagon, Geddy Lee, and Rod Stewart. i can't stand him normally, but he does a great job interviewing the bands.

What ever happened to memorial weekend war movies? Not to many years ago we all got a reminder as to what Memorial day means..

I think I mentioned in this thread... about a year ago I bought a boat load of old John Wayne dvd's and war dvd's from days gone by...

I have the late night wakies again so I'm watching "Midway" with Heston at the moment... "The Battle of the Bulge" is in the batters box.

This one was ok, it only got a little political after the first hour. Based on a true story,we watched it last month for $4.99.

What kind of lunatics would kill innocent people much less their own innocent people?
I'm trying to stop watching these kinds of things Patch. It is too much to deal with. But I do understand wanting to know just how bad things really are too.
Ireland seems to have gone rogue in more ways than one. Just today I put up one of their liberal commercials.
